Borrowing Costs and Housing Supply Impacting the GTA Real Estate Market
There were 5,627
home sales reported through the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board’s (TRREB) MLS® System in
August 2022, representing a yearover-year dip of 34.2 per cent - a lesser annual rate of decline compared
to the previous four months. The August sales result also represented a month-over-month increase compared
to July.

Canadian home sales post small decline from July to August
It was close to an even split between the number
of markets where sales were up and those where sales were down. Gains were led by the Greater Toronto
Area (GTA) and a large regional mix of other Ontario markets. These were offset by declines in Greater
Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Halifax-Dartmouth.
